The Trudo Vertical Forest will become a social housing project for low-income social groups. The 19 floors of the tower will become apartments for rent at affordable rates. #4 – NEW ZEALAND BUS TERMINAL REPURPOSED FOR HOMELESS

Auckland’s new $49M Bus Terminal in Manukau transforms into a night shelter for rough sleepers over winter. After several deaths in the area due to the cold, the initiative follows calls from the Salvation Army for community organisations to open their doors. The station will cater for 15 to 20 of an estimated 50 rough sleepers around the centre of Manukau in South Auckland. “This isn’t any mad social experiment,” said AT spokesman Wally Thomas, “it’s just a good thing to do for people who are vulnerable members of our community.
